Fensa Registered Company
PVC U windows have always been energy efficient. But now thanks to new government building regulations, there are minimum standards of energy efficiency that window, door and conservatories fitted in the UK must meet.
The regulations are known as "Document L" (Document J in Scotland) and they set energy efficiency targets that reduce heat loss from frames and glass to help Great Britain meet its commitment to reduce green house gases under the Kyoto accord.
To ensure that you fit replacement windows that meet these new standards, the Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF) and other industry bodies. With government encouragement, have set up FENSA - the Fenestration Self-Assessment scheme. Companies in the FENSA scheme will provide you with a certificate confirming that their windows comply with the new regulations. Installations by FENSA - registered companies are subject to random inspections by the schemes representatives.

Save Money
If your home is single glazed or your double-glazing was installed prior to April 2002 then you could be losing more heat than necessary, and therefore money, literally out of the window. However, by switching to Energy Efficient Windows you can save energy and reduce your household bills.
Save the Planet
If you live in a single glazed house and install Energy Efficient Windows, you could reduce the energy you use by 0.30 tonnes or 18% - almost reaching the Government target of 20% reduction per household. Add to this other simple energy saving measures – such as insulating your home and turning down the central heating by 1° C - and you could be making a real impact on reducing your carbon footprint.
